I am an experienced teacher who loves her job and particularly enjoys working with Japanese learners having spent many years in Japan. I am passionate about helping people improve their English and enjoy creating bespoke lessons which address each individual learners’ needs through honest and meaningful communication and using materials which are fun and interesting to the learner.

I have trouble understanding words, I am at a loss for expressions, I have trouble pronouncing words, I make grammatical mistakes, etc. Imogen always waits patiently and respectfully for me to say what I am trying to say and after understanding me, she doesn’t stop there but then very carefully teaches me the correct way to express myself with grammar, pronunciation and so on. Also, Imogen tailors the lessons to my work, areas of interest, and areas of weakness that I want to strengthen, so I can learn in a more practical way.

I look forward to each lesson and wonder what we will talk about on the day! This is what motivates me the most.

単語が出てこない、表現がわからず言葉に詰まる、発音がうまくできない、文法も間違えてしまう、そんな私が言おうとしていることを、いつも優しく辛抱強く待ってくれ、そしてしっかりと汲み取ってくれます。伝わったからそれで終わり、ではなく、その後には必ず、正しい表現方法や文法、発音などをとても丁寧に教えてくれます。また、私の仕事や興味のある分野、苦手で強化したい分野などに合わせてレッスンを組み立ててくれるので、より実践的に学ぶことができています。

何よりも、プライベートの話も交えながらのイモジェン先生との会話がとても楽しく、今日はどんな話をしようかなと毎回レッスンが楽しみで、先生になんとかして伝えたい！という気持ちがどんどん湧いてきます。それが何よりのモチベーションになっていると思います。
